The aim of the Journal is to encourage Members of the Institute to contribute to the content, drawing on their experiences, studies, and research in relation to a wide range of relevant topics that may include:
New technology and techniques
Anniversaries of major events with an explanation of what has changed since then and now, etc.
One of the key objectives of the Alert is to provide the ICPEM readership with understanding, tools, protocols and principles to help them remain current and informed in their area of interest.
Submissions can vary in size and the author may consider the amount of information required to present a complete and coherent piece of work. Submissions that equate to over four pages of printed text may be split up into a series and published in subsequent editions or Alert.
Short submissions, typically one page (approximately 500 words single line spacing font 12), may be included in the ‘food for thought’ section of the Journal or referred to the Editor of the Institute’s newsletter for inclusion in Communique.
A final version of the submitted article will be agreed with the author before it is included in the material for an edition of Alert. The timing of publishing a submission can be influenced by a number of factors and the author will be advised of the proposed programme.

The Institute’s Journal, Alert, is published three times issues each year as follows:
Date of Issue Final date for submissions
April 14 February
August 15 June
December 13 October
The success and timely issue of both publications is heavily dependent on submissions from the membership and adherence to the submission dates. There is a huge amount of collective experience amongst the membership and the sharing of these through its publications is of huge value. So, please, members, put pen to paper!
